The 16th Annual Conference on Systems Engineering Research (CSER 2018) invites authors to submit papers that address the practical and theoretical needs for Systems in Context research.  No system operates independently of other systems and stakeholders.  Understanding the interactions with other entities and the context in which a system will be used is paramount to the design process.  CSER 2018 seeks high quality papers from industry, academia, military, and government on both practical applications of systems in context and theoretical advancements.  In addition, CSER 2018 is seeking panel sessions and technical demonstrations from both industry and academia.

Paper submissions will be through EDAS system. See the flyer here.  Papers will be considered from a wide range of domains and topics that support Systems in Context including but not limited to:

Systems in Context:

  • Formative Methods & Requirements
  • Integration, Deployment, Assurance
  • Human Factors
  • Safety & Security
  • Systems in Society

Decisions/Control & Design; Systems Modeling

  • Optimization, Multiple Objectives, Synthesis
  • Risk & Resiliency
  • Collaborative Autonomy
  • Coordination & Distributed Decision-Making

  • Prescriptive Modeling; State Estimation
  • Stochastic Approximation
  • Stochastic Optimization & Control

Integrative Data Engineering

  • Sensor Management
  • Design of Experiments

Papers may consist of new theoretical work, analysis of existing systems, applications of established techniques, or case studies.  We will accept papers from both academia and industry.  Each paper will be reviewed by at least two members of the program committee.  All papers must be original work and currently not under submission to another conference or journal.

Papers are limited to 8 pages.

Paper Submission Guidelines

Submitted papers should not exceed 8 pages in length, including illustrations, and appendices with a font type no less than 10 point.

Evaluation will be based on the following:

  1. The paper’s scope is appropriate for systems engineering.
  2. The paper has an appropriate research focus and approach and is cogent.
  3. The paper satisfactorily explains what was done.
  4. The paper satisfactorily explains why it was done.
  5. The paper satisfactorily explains the basis for its conclusions.
Paper submissions will be through EDAS system.
